Sunil Kumar has been elected at President of the United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations (UFTAA).

The decision was announced at UFTAA’s Annual General Assembly, which was held in Brussels on 8-9 November 2015. Kumar now holds several major roles in the travel industry, including president of the Travel Agents’ Association of India (TAAI).

Also at the Brussels meeting, Yossi Fatael was elected as UFTAA’s Vice President and SG Kaka was named Vice President of Finance. The board of UFTAA, which comprises of nine elected officers, will soon meet and assign portfolios and committees. Kumar’s election comes as UFTAA celebrates its golden jubilee, this year. The federation was founded in Rome on 22 November 1966.

UFTAA has already announced some key decisions in this year’s Annual General Assembly, including inviting affiliate membership from individual travel agencies at an annual fee of EUR100-150 (US$108-161).

Kumar has spent the last 16 years on the TAAI’s managing committee and has held every elected office in the association, from Chapter Secretary to President. A graduate of law, specialising in constitutional law, he is now the Founder & CEO of Travel World & Travel World Holidays and Managing Director of Interserve Travels, a senior consortium of travel agencies in India.
