Legendary French chef Michel Roux host a series of gastronomic events at The Datai Langkawi early next year.
In his first trip to Malaysia, Roux will bring a taste of his three Michelin-starred restaurant, The Waterside Inn, to the luxury resort. Accompanied by chef Simone Tricarico, pâtissier Stephanie Aubriot, master sommelier Pierre Bat, and Jordi Fumado from his front of house team, Roux will host three five-course dinners and a masterclass at The Datai Langkawi from 18 to 20 February 2016.
“This will be an incredible partnership; I am overjoyed at the prospect of cooking at this iconic hotel in such a magical location,” said Roux. “I cannot wait to work with Arnaud Girodon, who is such an inspired general manager, and to spoil and inspire his guests at The Datai.”
Roux and Bat will meet and greet guests during the dinners, which will start with a Champagne and canapé reception serving Roux’s own Champagne label. Bat will assist guests with wine suggestions and pairings. The dinners will be held in The Datai’s poolside restaurant, The Dining Room.
Guests can also take part in a masterclass, in which Roux and his team will show participants how to prepare a three-course lunch. Guests taking part in the masterclass will receive recipes, a Michel Roux apron, a copy of Roux’s latest book and a signed certificate.
“It is an honour to welcome one of the world’s greatest chefs to Malaysia’s leading resort,” said GM Arnaud Girodon. “We pride ourselves on the cuisine we offer at The Datai and always strive to give our guests unique experiences, so working with Michel and his team couldn’t be more appropriate – or exciting!”
