Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement that will lead to the launch of its first Westin hotel in Brisbane.
Scheduled to open in 2018, Westin Brisbane will form part of a new mixed-use development called Mary Lane, which will also feature shops, restaurants and residences. It will be located in the city’s central business district.
“Brisbane is emerging as a sophisticated and lively city, as domestic and international travellers flock to enjoy its new bars, restaurants and retail outlets, alongside the city’s bustling calendar of events and festivals,” said Andrew Taylor, Starwood’s director of acquisitions & development for the Pacific region.
“It’s an opportune time to be developing in the central business district and this project is befitting of the Westin brand’s entry into Queensland.”
The new Westin Brisbane will feature 286 rooms and suites with views of the river and city. Facilities will include a resort-style swimming pool with swim-up bar, a fitness centre and spa, while Starwood said its F&B would feature “a variety of healthy culinary options”. There will also be more than 650m² of function space and a 24-hour business centre.
Westin Brisbane joins Starwood’s portfolio of 18 hotels currently operating in the Pacific region. In Brisbane it currently operates a Four Points hotel, with the W Brisbane also scheduled to open in 2018.
