Princess Cruises will embark on its second season of sailings from Singapore this week.
Following its inaugural season in 2014, the 2,678-passenger Sapphire Princess cruise ship will set sail from Singapore this evening on a five-day round-trip voyage to Thailand and Malaysia, calling at Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Phuket.
“Singapore’s cruise industry is flourishing and living up to its true potential, and this is only the beginning,” said Farriek Tawfik, Princess Cruises’ director for Southeast Asia. “Princess had an outstanding inaugural season in 2014 and 2015 is shaping up to be even more successful and with higher customer satisfaction.”
And Princess has also announced that another of its cruise ships, Diamond Princess, will homeport in Singapore from November 2016. Both vessels will be served by multi-lingual crew members, and will feature Asian food and facilities.
“Princess Cruises aims to bring the best the world has to offer to more guests in Asia,” said Tawfik. “We expect a double-digit growth in Singaporean and Southeast Asian travellers opting for cruise travel in the near future.”
As part of this week’s launch, Princess invited 100 underprivileged children from three homes (Pertapis, Children’s Aid Society and The Haven at Salvation Army) to spend a day onboard the Sapphire Princess.
