Destinations of the World (DOTW), the wholesale travel company, has acquired Asian accommodation wholesaler BICO Trip.
Following the merger, the combined business will offer access to more than 150,000 properties worldwide, 37,000 of which are contracted directly. And DOTW said it would now focus on expanding in the Asia Pacific region.
“BICO have built a business with an enviable position in complex markets with high barriers to entry,” said James Burdett, CEO of DOTW. “These markets play a pivotal role in regional travel and are highly complementary with our existing destination and distribution strengths. We look forward to working with Jackie [Lee, CEO of BICO Trip] and the BICO team to further strengthen our position in Asia Pacific and deliver the synergies that make our companies a perfect fit.”
The companies now have a combined network of offices in nine Asia Pacific countries, catering to both customers and suppliers. The group said that its partners would now benefit from “a significant increase in scale and diversity of distribution” with “fully localised service”.
“DOTW brings a significant global product strength and diversity to our customers and will give our suppliers access to a truly global distribution platform,” said Jackie Lee. “This enhanced proposition will enable us to accelerate growth across our key markets and take the company to the next level. We are excited to be on this journey with DOTW and look forward to working with James and his team.”
