Tigerair Taiwan makes debut mainland China

Tigerair Taiwan launched its first ever flights to mainland China on Saturday.
The low-cost carrier’s inaugural cross-Strait flight departed Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport on 12 December, bound for Zhangjiajie, in central China’s Hunan province.
Zhangjiajie is the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which served as the inspiration for the fictional world of Pandora in the Hollywood movie ‘Avatar’.
Tigerair Taiwan will now operate the route twice a week, with flights departing Taipei every Wednesday and Saturday at 0635 and the return flights leaving Zhangjiajie’s Hehua Airport at 1135 the same day.
All flights will be operated using a 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.
Zhangjiajie becomes Tigerair Taiwan’s eighth international destination, following Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Macau, Naha, Osaka, Singapore and Tokyo Narita. It also plans to launch flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport on 19 December.
