The force is strong with ANA. This week the Japanese airline shuttled the cast and crew of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ between the movie’s world premieres in Hollywood and London.
The airline’s Star Wars-themed Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carried stars including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, along with director JJ Abrams, on the chartered trans-Atlantic flight. ANA formed a partnership with Disney earlier this year and will adorn three of its aircraft with Star Wars liveries.
“ANA is proud to be part of the global celebration for Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” said Osamu Shinobe, president & CEO of ANA.
“As we fly passengers to Japan and across the world, we aim to provide our guests with the magic and joy that these films spark. As the first aircraft to be decorated with Star Wars livery, there was no question that the R2-D2 ANA jet was chosen to fly between the US and UK premieres.”
At the film’s world premiere, a replica of ANA’s Star Wars aircraft based on the new droid BB-8, was placed on the red carpet and signed by the film’s cast. The real BB-8 jet, a Boeing 777-300ER, will enter service in March 2016, mainly on routes between the North America and Japan.
