Etihad Airways will add three new weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Manila next year.
From 1 May 2016, the airline will increase the route’s frequency from 14 to 17 weekly flights, all of which will be operated using high-capacity 412-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering 28 seats in business class and 384 in economy.
“The Abu Dhabi-Manila route is one of our strongest in terms of demand and has been capacity-constrained over the past few years,” said Etihad’s president & CEO, James Hogan.
“The new services will increase capacity between the two cities by almost 2,500 seats per week enabling Etihad Airways to better serve the market in the UAE and the Philippines for point-to-point travel.”
The three new weekly flights will depart Abu Dhabi every Monday, Saturday and Sunday at 1435, arriving in Manila at 0345. The return services leave the Philippine capital every Monday, Tuesday and Sunday at 0655 and arrive back in Abu Dhabi at 1200.
These flights will complement the existing twice daily flights Etihad operates on the route, which depart Abu Dhabi at 0250 and 1010, and Manila at 0045 and 1905. Philippine Airlines will codeshare on all the flights.
“There’s huge potential to grow the visitor market, particularly from the Middle East and Europe, and we’re keen to work with our European partner airlines, the Philippines government and its tourism board to showcase the beauty of the country and the friendliness of its people. The three additional weekly services between Abu Dhabi and Manila will help us realise this ambition,” Hogan added.
