The company has penned a franchise deal for the MYR455 million (US$109m) Ramada Resort Lumut project, which is scheduled to open in 2018, overlooking the Malacca Strait.
The resort will feature 170 rooms and 269 apartments, plus seven “forest villas” with private pools and a “forest spa”.
A separate four-storey building will house a meeting rooms and a 350-pax capacity banqueting hall, hidden behind a three-storey waterfall overlooking the resort’s infinity-edged pool.
“As a company, we are committed to expanding our portfolio of offerings in destinations that people want to visit, and Malaysia is certainly a key market for us,” said Barry Robinson, Wyndham’s president & managing director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim. “Ramada Resort Lumut is a truly unique resort that I am confident will appeal to a range of guests.”
The resort becomes the third new Ramada signed recently by Wyndham in Malaysia, following the Ramada Meridin Johor Bahru and Ramada Encore Meridin Johor Bahru. Globally, the Ramada portfolio now comprises almost 840 properties in 60 countries.
