The partnership between Design Hotels and Starwood will continue to expand in the coming weeks, as 30 more properties are added to the SPG loyalty programme.
Design Hotels effectively became Starwood’s 11th brand late last year, when the two companies agreed to a series of tie-ups, including the distribution of Design Hotels’ member properties through Starwood’s channels and inclusion in the SPG programme. Since November 2015, 32 of Design Hotels’ 290 member hotels have joined SPG, and 30 more properties are set to go live in March.
Also, the second phase of the partnership between Design Hotels and SPG kicked off this month, allowing SPG members to redeem Starpoints for stays at participating Design Hotels member hotels, as well as earning points.
“Our partnership with SPG offers tremendous advantages on all levels and strengthens what’s at the heart of everything we do; creating long-term value for our community and our member hotels. It’s exciting to see these impressive results only three months after our first member hotels went live,” said Claus Sendlinger, founder & CEO of Design Hotels.
Through the partnership, guests can book participating Design Hotels via SPG.com, the SPG mobile app, and a global network of call centres. Two Starpoints per eligible US dollar spent can be earned, while on-property benefits include free Wi-FI and bottled water, plus room upgrades and late check-out (subject to availability and membership level).
“We are thrilled to bring SPG members expanded access to design-led hotels,” said Chris Holdren, Starwood’s senior vice president of digital, loyalty & partnerships. “Our expanded relationship with Design Hotels continues to raise the stakes in loyalty, boosting exposure for Design Hotels across Starwood’s industry-leading distribution and loyalty platforms, while introducing a new set of global travellers to SPG.”
Starwood acquired a 49.8% stake in Design Hotels in 2011.
