Bangkok topped the list of international destinations for Indian travellers in 2015, replacing Dubai.
According to the latest Hotel Price Index (HPI) report by Hotels.com, Indians mostly preferred short- and medium-haul destinations in Asia when travelling overseas trips last year. Thailand emerged as the favourite destination, the survey showed, ahead of Dubai and Singapore.
London took fourth place, making it the most popular long-haul destination. Bali was a new entrant on the list in 10th place. Phuket, Paris, Hong Kong and New York also made the top 10.
The data was drawn from bookings made at thousands of hotels worldwide listed on Hotels.com website.
“Short-haul destinations in Asia were preferred by Indian travellers in 2015. This was mainly due to 13 long weekends that influenced Indian travellers’ choices to opt for short-haul holiday destinations,” Hotels.com stated.
Meanwhile, Delhi and Mumbai continue to be the most popular domestic destinations for Indian travellers in 2015. Goa, Bengaluru and Chennai retained third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Hyderabad switched places with Jaipur in sixth position.
