Minor signs twin Anantara and Avani hotels in Abu Dhabi

Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group has continued to expand its portfolio in the UAE with the signing of a dual Anantara and Avani hotel project in Abu Dhabi.

The new Anantara Jebel Dhanna and Avani Jebel Dhanna in Abu Dhabi are both are scheduled to open in 2018 in the Al Gharbia region of Abu Dhabi, close to the ferry departure point for Sir Bani Yas Island and 240km from Abu Dhabi city centre.

Anantara Jebel Dhanna Villas will have a total of 60 one-, two- and three-bedroom villas, plus two restaurants, a pool bar, gym, swimming pool and spa. The neighbouring Avani Jebel Dhanna Hotel will have 230 rooms, including units with kitchenettes. Facilities will include multiple dining options, a gym and a swimming pool.

The two properties will share their function space, kids’ club and outdoor areas.

“Minor Hotel Group is already well established in Abu Dhabi through our existing Anantara portfolio in the city, desert and on Sir Bani Yas Island and we are excited to today announce the first Avani in Abu Dhabi, to be developed alongside what will be our sixth Anantara. We are looking forward to partnering with Dhabi Contracting in this exciting new project,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of the Minor Hotel Group.

The new properties will expand Minor’s existing portfolio of six Anantara properties in operation in the UAE, five of which are located in Abu Dhabi. In addition, a new Anantara resort is under development in Ras Al Khaimah and a second Anantara resort will open in Dubai in 2018.

The country’s first Avani hotel was announced in September last year and is expected to open in Dubai in 2018.
