Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has started harnessing virtual reality (VR) to help it advance the design of its new hotels.
Unveiled at the Hotel Investment Conference South Asia (HICSA) 2016, the company’s ‘BluPrint’ initiative will use VR technology to create new design concepts for the rooms, public areas and event spaces of its new Radisson Blu hotels, and those being refurbished.
An interior design app, BluPrint will enable hotels to conceptualise new multi-functional spaces, different room configurations and flexible inventory, in terms of materials and colour schemes.
“Carlson Rezidor is redefining the design process for investors and how travellers discover and explore our hotels,” said Thorsten Kirschke, Carlson Rezidor’s president for Asia Pacific. “Our focus on technology and innovation underscores our drive to stay ahead of changing guest expectations, captivate new audiences and ensure even stronger returns for owners and investors.
“Our technological edge will also help propel the evolution of our Radisson Blu brand, which has been built on iconic and innovative design, sophistication and style,” he added.
Carlson Rezidor currently operates 46 Radisson Blu hotels in Asia Pacific and has 34 more under development. The BluPrint augmented reality app is free and available for Android and iOS devices.
