Marriott International has expanded its portfolio in mainland China with the launch of its first ever hotel in Taizhou, an industrial city in the Yangtze Delta region.
The new Zhejiang Taizhou Marriott Hotel becomes first internationally-branded upscale hotel in Huangyan, Taizhou’s new commercial district. It is located 15 minutes’ drive from the high-speed railway station and 30 minutes from Taizhou airport, which offers connections to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming and Chengdu.
Taizhou is a major hub for plastic mould manufacturing and the hotel also sits close to the city’s Chinese Mould Expo City complex.
The property offers 351 rooms, five restaurants, including Cantonese and Japanese outlets, a 24-hour fitness centre and a large indoor swimming pool. And there is also extensive space for events, with 2,400m² of function space comprising 14 meeting rooms and a 1,000m² grand ballroom.
“Local demand for Marriott Hotel’s brand is surging, driven by the region’s robust economic growth and rapid infrastructure development, and our hotel is well poised to serve increasingly refined hospitality needs in Taizhou,” said Mark Chan, GM of the Zhejiang Taizhou Marriott Hotel.
The Taizhou property becomes Marriott International’s 91st hotel in China, and its 26th under the Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand.
