Seabourn has expanded its partnership with the UN Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with a new line-up of speakers scheduled to join the cruise line’s voyages.
Onboard conversation topics will cover culture, heritage, history, and the importance of sustainable tourism in preserving the world’s UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Speakers will include Canadian geologist Dr Catherine Hickson, the 2013 lead UNESCO advisor in Afghanistan Alessandra Borchi, and Peter Stott, an industrial historian, archaeologist and architect.
“UNESCO’s vital role in encouraging cultural understanding and preservation always makes for fascinating conversation on Seabourn, and the seasons ahead will continue the tradition,” said Seabourn’s senior vice president of global marketing & sales, John Delaney.
“The significance of educational experiences continues to grow and inspire, and we’re always excited to welcome those who lend their expertise to UNESCO to engage our guests about such important topics as sustainable tourism, culture and heritage.”
Through its partnership with UNESCO, Seabourn has created a series of ‘World Heritage Discovery Tours’ which have been developed in cooperation with UNESCO World Heritage site managers and tour experts. Fares for Seabourn’s excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites include a small donation to UNESCO’s World Heritage Fund.
