Etihad Airways has officially opened its new premium lounge at Melbourne Airport.

A new expansive lounge has a seating capacity for up to 133 guests, the largest premium lounge outside Abu Dhabi.

A centrepiece of the new lounge is the 26-seat dining area. Passengers can enjoy the airline’s signature hospitality with restaurant-style a la carte dining and an international buffet.

Professional chefs prepare each dish on site using locally sourced, seasonal produce which includes fresh-baked bread twice daily – grissini breadsticks, dips such as hummus, baba ghanoush and muhammara, pickles, labneh, cookies and ice-cream.

Shane O’Hare, Etihad Airways’ senior vice president marketing, officially inaugurated the lounge with a ceremonial ribbon cutting along with Melbourne Airport CEO Lyell Strambi.

The new facility adds to the airline’s expanding portfolio of premium lounges in Sydney, Abu Dhabi, Dublin, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Manchester, Paris, Washington DC and New York. A new first class lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport and a new first and business class lounge at Los Angeles will follow in the coming months.
