China’s Hongtu Airlines launches first flight

A start-up airline in China will launch its first flight on Saturday (21 May).
Hongtu Airlines, which is based in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) this week and plans to launch its inaugural flight to Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province, on 21 May.
The airline, which uses the ‘A6’ code, will operate a fleet of 220-seat Airbus A321 aircraft on domestic routes from Kunming’s Changshui International Airport. Following the start of flights to Nanchang, it plans to start flying to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province.
Hongtu Airlines becomes the sixth carrier based in Kunming, following China Eastern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Lucky Air, Kunming Airlines and Ruili Airlines.
