Passengers flying from Brussels Airport will be able to check-in at the departure hall from Thursday 2 June 2016, as the airport resumes normal operations just two and a half months after the terror attacks.
The departure hall suffered severe damage when two bombs were detonated in the check-in area on 22 March, since which time airlines have been forced to use temporary check-in facilities. But the departure hall will fully reopen on Thursday, accommodating all passengers and airlines.
At present, a reduced flight schedule allows for 28 departing flights per hour, but the airport said it will gradually increase this to 44 flights per hour by the start of the summer peak travel season.
The majority of the passengers will be able to proceed from the airport’s entrance to their gate in under 60 minutes – approximately the same as before the attacks.
