Marriott has continued the expansion of its Thai portfolio with the launch of a new upscale beach resort in Phuket.
The new Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa Nai Yang Beach has now opened following a major THB2.3 billion (US$64 million) investment that has seen the property completely refurbished and rebranded from its previous incarnation as the Imperial Adamas Beach Resort.
Located on Nai Yang Beach, not far from Phuket International Airport on the island’s west coast, the new Marriott resort offers 180 rooms, suites and pool villas.
Facilities include two restaurants – the international Andaman Kitchen and beachfront Big Fish Restaurant & Bar – plus a lobby lounge, a large lagoon-style swimming pool, 24-hour fitness centre, spa and pirate-themed kids’ club. And for the MICE market, the resort features 228m² of event space including a 126m² ballroom.
The new resort forms part of a major agreement with Thailand’s TCC Land for the rebranding of multiple properties.
“In 2013, we signed an agreement with TCC Land Asset World to develop seven hotels and resorts in Thailand. We successfully opened Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa in March and are delighted to welcome this Phuket resort under our flagship Marriott Hotels brand,” said Karl Hudson, Marriott’s area vice president for Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia & Japan.
The Hua Hin and Phuket openings will be followed by the relaunch of Bangkok’s largest hotel, the former Imperial Queen’s Park, which will be rebranded as a Marriott later this year.
Marriott now operates a total of 18 hotels in Thailand, including four in Phuket.
