ATPI Group, the global TMC and events company, has announced plans to acquire New Zealand-based Business World Travel.
This deal marks the latest phase in ATPI’s Asia Pacific expansion strategy, following the acquisition of Australia’s Voyager in January 2014 and Malaysia’s DTC Travel in October 2015. The company also recently expanded its premises in Singapore and launched a new sports event management company in Australia.
“The purchase of Business Travel World is a significant milestone for our global business,” said Graham Ramsey, CEO of the ATPI Group. “As part of our growth strategy over the last two years we have focused on extensive investment and acquisitions. Through this most recent deal, we have a new exciting venture that reinforces the high standards of client service that are a cornerstone of our business.”
Based in Auckland, Business World Travel has operated for 24 years. Its founder, Grant Bevin, will remain with the company following the acquisition, and will lead APTI’s operations in New Zealand.
“Joining the ATPI Group is a fantastic opportunity for the business travel sector in the region,” said Bevin. “We have spent the past 20-plus years building a company that puts customer service and long-term relationships at the heart of its operations.
“The travel management sector is fast moving and developing its technological and client service capabilities at a pace, and the ATPI Group’s expertise will empower new opportunities for us. I am excited that Business World Travel is now part of one of the most dynamic businesses in the world,” he added.
Following the acquisition, ATPI Group will expand its network of wholly-owned offices to 34 in 18 countries.
