Thailand’s Onyx Hospitality Group has signed a management agreement for a brand new serviced residence in Chengdu.
The new Shama Xiangnanli Chengdu is on track to open in 2017, when it will become Onyx’s first property in Sichuan’s provincial capital. The company previously signed another new-build serviced residence in Chengdu, Shama Lite Tianfu, which is expected to launch in 2019.
Located in the city’s Tianfu New Area, Shama Xiangnanli Chengdu will offer 252 serviced apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units. Facilities at the property will include a business area, guest lounge, a breakfast area, gym, swimming pool and children’s area.
“Chengdu is one of the world’s fastest-growing cities,” said Tommy Lai, Onyx’s vice president for North Asia. “As more and more global and national companies are establishing businesses in Chengdu, we see the demand for serviced apartments offerings like Shama. We are committed to addressing the accommodation needs of expatriates and nationals relocating to Chengdu.”
Onyx now operates nine Shama properties in Greater China, located in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong. It is also planning to launch the brand in Guangzhou, Daqing and Beijing in the coming years, along with additional locations in Shanghai and Chengdu.
