Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has announced that the Emirates Identity cards can now be used at e-gates at Dubai International Airport’s Terminal Three.

Previously, any card holders had to register to use one of the 28 fast-track gates at the terminal.

The initiative is expected to be rolled out at terminals one and two shortly in order to improve passenger flow at DXB.

Earlier this year it was announced any airline passengers passing through Dubai International would begin paying a small levy of AED35.

Collecting the fee, which came into effect on June 30, 2016, is the responsibility of the individual airlines, which means it has likely been added at the time of booking. Those under the age of two, as well as cabin crew and transit passengers whose arrival and departure flight number are same are exempt.
