Qatar Airways has significantly expanded its network in Malaysia following an agreement with Kuala Lumpur-based Malindo Air.
Under the new interline deal, which has already come into effect, passengers from Doha will be able to connect to 12 destinations across Malaysia, via KL International Airport. The partnership also offers connections to several other Malindo destinations across Asia Pacific.
In return, Malindo’s passengers will be offered single-ticket travel to more than 100 destinations across Qatar Airways’ network, via the airline’s three daily flights to and from KL.
“By partnering with carriers such as Malindo Air, Qatar Airways is able to expand its regional footprint and continue to drive passenger growth on our Malaysia route and within the ASEAN region,” said Qatar Airways’ group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
“We take pride in being a global connector and with the Malindo Air interline agreement, Malindo Air passengers will find it easier to travel to new leisure and business destinations in Qatar Airways’ expansive network whilst enjoying the high quality service we are known for.
“Many of Malindo Air’s regional destinations are now also within easy reach of Qatar Airways passengers, providing greater ease of travel for passengers travelling to these cities,” he added.
Malindo Air is the Malaysian subsidiary of Indonesia’s Lion Air, and operates to a growing network of destinations across Southeast Asia, China and Australia.
