Ctrip’s co-president and chief operating officer, Jane Sun, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural ITB China event, which is due to take place next May.

The news was announced this week by ITB China’s organiser Messe Berlin, as it continues to prepare for its newest travel trade show. ITB China will take place from 10-12 May 2017 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Conference Center.

“We are very excited about ITB China and happy to be part of it right from the first event in 2017. We are confident that the ITB China will be a great opportunity for Ctrip to enhance its business relations with global destinations and travel service suppliers,” Ms Sun said.

According to Messe Berlin, interest in ITB China is high. Several major Chinese travel industry companies have already signed up for the trade show, including Ctrip, Alitrip, Utour and Caissa, all of which are sending buyers.

ITB China will become the second Asian edition for Messe Berlin, following ITB Asia which takes place annually in Singapore. The rival WTM series also recently launched its first event in China.
