Saga has launched a brand new ‘Cruise Trade team’ focused on promoting Saga cruises to trade agents.
The team was launched on the 25th July and comprises three members of staff Sukina Fagg – National Account Manager; Wayne Beard – Cruise Sales Executive for the North and Laura Croft – Cruise Sales Executive South.
Sukina Fagg says “We’re really excited to be able to really focus solely on Saga Cruises. We will initially be focusing on cruise specialists, ensuring our technology is in line with their needs, providing training for sales teams, arranging ship visits and attending as many trade shows as possible! We will also be working alongside retail teams that might be cruise focused.”
In 2015, the over 50s in the UK spent almost £2.2 billion on cruise holidays and a quarter (25%) of over 50s say that they would go on a cruise if they could. “Ship passenger days” have also increased by 6.7% to 336,000, cruising is fast becoming a favourite choice of holiday.
Saga currently has two ships in its fleet, Saga Sapphire carrying 720 passengers and Saga Pearl II carrying 449. In September 2015, Saga announced its intention to build its first ever new-build ship which is scheduled for delivery in Autumn 2019.
