Etihad creates new bridge to Venice

Etihad Airways will expand its Italian network this autumn with the launch of a new direct service to Venice.
Effective 30 October 2016, Etihad’s flights will replace Alitalia’s existing services on this route.
The new daily flights will depart the UAE capital at 0230 and arrive in Venice at 0640, while the return services will take off at 1055 and arrive back in Abu Dhabi at 1955. These times will allow for fast connection to Sydney and Melbourne, as well as other destinations across Asia Pacific.
Etihad will deploy a 106-seat, two-class Airbus A319 aircraft on the Venice route.
“Launching our service to Venice further supports a very popular passenger route between Italy, our Abu Dhabi hub and onwards throughout Etihad Airways’ growing network, as far afield as Australia. Together with our codeshare and equity partner Alitalia, we are also strengthening the significant trade relationship between Italy and the UAE,” stated Kevin Knight, Etihad’s chief strategy & planning officer.
Venice becomes the Etihad’s third Italian destination, following Milan and Rome. And together with Alitalia, which is part-owned by Etihad, the two carriers will offer a total of 35 weekly flights between Italy and the UAE.
