Hyatt has signed an agreement that will see it open its first ever hotel in Phnom Penh.
The management deal, which was penned this week with the Chip Mong Group, will see a brand new Hyatt Regency hotel rise in the centre of Cambodia’s capital city. Expected to open in 2020, Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh will mark the second Hyatt hotel in Cambodia and the country’s first Hyatt Regency.
“We are delighted to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Phnom Penh and Cambodia,” David Udell, Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific. “We are confident that the globally recognised Hyatt Regency brand will resonate with business and leisure travellers visiting the country. Furthermore, we believe the hotel will play a vital role in the city’s development and will become a landmark in the city and a dynamic member of the local community.”
The new Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh will offer 250 rooms and suites, plus a range of food and beverage outlets, a fitness centre, spa, and a rooftop swimming pool with views of the Royal Palace and the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. It will also provide conference and banqueting space.
At present, Hyatt operates one hotel in Cambodia – the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, which was rebranded from the former Hotel de la Paix in 2013.
Hyatt Regency’s Southeast Asian portfolio currently consists of five hotels in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, with two more in the pipeline, not including the Phnom Penh project.
