Following its recent acquisition of Starwood, Marriott has continued the expansion of The Luxury Collection across China, with the opening of a new hotel in Changsha.

The Meixi Lake Hotel has now joined The Luxury Collection, becoming the former Starwood brand’s eighth property in mainland China and its first in Hunan province.

“The opening of The Meixi Lake Hotel is a momentous occasion for the brand, as we continue to strengthen The Luxury Collection’s presence in China,” said Meredith Dichter, global brand director for The Luxury Collection.

“Boasting a portfolio of more than 100 hotels around the world, The Luxury Collection offers global explorers the chance to experience some of the world’s most inspiring destinations.”

Located in Changsha’s Meixi Lake Zone, a new business, retail and entertainment district, the Meixi Lake Hotel is set within a 52-storey tower. It features 310 rooms and suites overlooking Yuelu Mountain and Meixi Lake, plus four F&B outlets, a heated indoor swimming pool, a spa with 14 treatment rooms and extensive meeting space including multiple function rooms and a grand ballroom.

The new addition to The Luxury Collection joins existing properties in Tianjin, Shanghai, Sanya, Hangzhou, Dalian and Nanjing.
