Marriott International has continued to expand Starwood’s former brands in Asia Pacific, with the launch of the Tribute Portfolio in Singapore.
The art-focused Hotel Vagabond, which is owned by Harpreet Bedi and Satinder Garcha, has now joined the upscale collection. The design hotel, which is set in a colonial-era art deco building in the Jalan Besar area of the city, becomes Marriott’s 10th property in Singapore.
“Our loyalty members have expressed interest time and time again for more access to great hotels in Asia, specifically in global markets like Singapore,” said Brian Povinelli, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader for Tribute Portfolio. “Truly capturing the independent spirit of the Tribute Portfolio brand, Hotel Vagabond delivers a distinct experience for travellers seeking the unexpected.”
The hotel features 41 rooms, all adorned with photographs and artworks. The Vagabond Salon will show a series of live performances and independent films, and the hotel will feature a regular “artist in residence”. The property also features a club lounge.
Tribute Portfolio becomes the first of two former Starwood brands to launch in Singapore; in early 2017 The Duxton Club will become the city’s first Luxury Collection hotel.
