The new version of Airbus’ smallest passenger jet has taken to the skies.
The Airbus A319neo performed its maiden flight from Hamburg to Toulouse recently, remaining airborne for five hours.
The aircraft is the smallest model in the fuel-efficient A320neo series, which also includes the A320neo and A321neo. This single-aisle jet will be able to seat up to 160 passengers in a single-class layout, or 140 in a classic two-class configuration.
To date, Airbus has taken firm orders for more than 5,000 A320neo aircraft, making it the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft. Only 55 of these orders however, are for the A319neo. Major customers include Avianca and Frontier Airlines.
The A319neo will now remain in Toulouse to complete its flight test programme.
