Hobart’s biggest hotel to become an ibis

The largest hotel in the Australian city of Hobart is scheduled to open next month, and it has now been confirmed that the property will be branded as an ibis Styles.

AccorHotels has penned a deal with the hotel’s Singaporean developer, Fragrance Group, to operate the new-build budget hotel on Macquarie Street, overlooking the River Derwent.

The ibis Styles Hobart, which seen an investment of AU$50 million (US$36m), will feature 296 rooms across 10 floors. Facilities will include a restaurant and bar, an indoor rooftop pool, two saunas, a gym and meeting room. Guests will also be offered free Wi-Fi.

This is the first of three hotels Fragrance Group plans to develop in Hobart, Tasmania’s capital. Once open, the hotel will become join AccorHotels’ existing hotels in Tasmania: The Sebel Launceston and Mercure Launceston.
