Qatar Airways is seeking compensation from Boeing after delays to its 787 Dreamliner delivery schedule affected the airline’s expansion plans. Gulf News reported that Qatar has 30 Dreamliners on order, and that Boeing has set no new delivery schedule after pushing back the plane’s roll-out for the fourth time in December.
“They already know they have been at fault,” Ali Al Rais, the airline’s Executive Vice-President – Commercial, was quoted saying. “There is compensation and we are discussing the schedule,” he added, without saying how much compensation Qatar would be seeking.
Meanwhile, in the lead up to the launch of its daily Doha-Houston flights, which was among the new routes affected by the Boeing delays, Qatar Airways has embarked on a GCC-wide road show to promote the route, Gulf News reported.
Led by Al Rais, the delegation’s first stop was Dubai, following which the road show will travel to Kuwait City, Manama, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Muscat where it finishes on 10 February.
Launching on 30 March, Houston will be the airline’s third US gateway city, to be serviced using Qatar’s Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
