Genting Cruise Lines has announced the official river conveyance of World Dream, the newest ship for the Dream Cruises fleet.

Taking place on Sunday, 17 September in Papenburg, Germany, the river conveyance marked the official start of World Dream’s journey from the Meyer Werft shipyard to her initial homeports in Guangzhou (Nansha), China and Hong Kong where she will begin service on 17 November 2017.

“Genting Cruise Lines is proud of the progress we have made with World Dream and are eagerly awaiting her arrival in Asia to begin taking our guests on unforgettable journeys and creating unforgettable experiences for our passengers,” said Mr. Kent Zhu, president of Genting Cruise Lines.

“World Dream’s dual-homeports in Guangzhou (Nansha) and Hong Kong underlines our ongoing commitment to continue to support the Pearl River Delta as major cruise hub in the Asia Pacific.”

From the covered shipyard of Meyer Werft where the first steel cuts were made to begin construction of World Dream in February 2016, the ship will travel the river Ems en route to its first destination in Eemshaven, Netherlands to undergo initial testing and then further to Bremerhaven, Germany for additional sea trials.

After World Dream’s official handover ceremony from Meyer Werft to Dream Cruises scheduled for 26 October, the ship will begin her epic ocean voyage that will take her from Germany to Gibraltar, through the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal, across the Indian Ocean with visits to Sri Lanka and Singapore before ending at her new dual homeports in Hong Kong on 17 November and Guangzhou, China 19 November.

Dream Cruises’ newest addition, World Dream has been conceived as a floating high-end, integrated resort at sea, leveraging on Genting Cruise Lines’ extensive history and expertise from its cruise related businesses. The debut of World Dream will further enhance Dream Cruises’ capacity to offer a broad spectrum of multi-generational programs and facilities for guests, highlighted by exemplary heartfelt Asian hospitality and a market leading crew to guest ratio.
