The former US president Barack Obama stayed in the Presidential Suite at the Fairmont Peace Hotel during his recent visit in Shanghai for the third annual Global Alliance of SMEs Summit at the Shanghai World Expo Centre.

Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by George Wee, general manager of Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai and area general manager of Fairmont Hotels, China.

Mr Obama was presented with a special gift from the hotel’s GM as well as receiving a personalised bathrobe and Le Labo amenities imprinted with his name.  The former President graciously posed with team members and even took time during his stay to watch the legendary Old Jazz Band in the hotel’s famous Jazz Bar (above).

Upon his departure he signed the hotel’s visitors’ book writing “Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.”

Mr Obama joins a long line of American Presidents who have stayed at the Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George Bush.
