Millennium Hotels and Resorts continues its successful expansion strategy with a second 5-star property in Turkey, Grand Millennium Konya City.
One of the fastest-growing regional hotel management companies in the Middle East and Africa, Millennium Hotels and Resorts operates 35 hotels, with 14 scheduled to open in 2018 and 40 more hotels in the pipeline across the region.
Back in April this year, the group opened its first property in Turkey to capitalise on its surging occupancy rates as leisure travel bounced back. As the country saw a 38% increase in foreign visitors to 1.46 million, the group opened the 127-room Millennium Istanbul Golden Horn. And now to follow the success of its first property in Turkey, it’s ready to operate a second property, Grand Millennium Konya City.
“Turkey – a key travel destination for the MENA region”
Kevork Deldelian COO at Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA, said: “We are delighted to be launching our second property in Turkey – a key travel destination for the MENA region. We look forward to delivering a quality hotel with international hospitality standards that offer bespoke service and excellent facilities in a key strategic location.”
Grand Millennium Konya City is situated south from Ankara and a one-hour flight from the country’s economic hub, Istanbul. It’s on one of the main roads leading to Konya Airport, just 3 miles away from the historical city centre.
The 5-star hotel will house 316 rooms and suites as well as amenities including an expansive spa that’s over 4,000 sqm, two indoor swimming pools, and the largest meeting space in Konya (over 6,500 sqm) with in-house meeting rooms, a ballroom and convention centre.
Additionally, the F&B outlets at the hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, Italian restaurant, bistro café, Irish pub, lobby lounge and a rooftop bar.
Yavuz Türkel, chairman of Ece Mermer Turizm Sanayi, the local contractor responsible for the property, commented: “We are delighted to bring the first Millennium Hotels and Resorts property to Konya City, and the first Grand Millennium in Turkey. Located south of Ankara in the Central Anatolia region, it is a burgeoning tourist destination teaming with history. We look forward to offering an exciting new choice for travellers exploring Turkey’s hidden gems and look forward to delivering the exemplary standards which have made Millennium Hotels and Resorts so successful.”
