Datai Langkawi’s hoteliers of the future graduate from ‘Investing in People’

Following on from news of The Datai Langkawi’s USD 60 million transformation in March, the Malaysian island resort has now is now celebrating the graduation of the first class to graduate from the company’s Investing in People programme.

The students received their diplomas at a last Sunday, at the Langkawi International Convention Centre, where nearly 250 guests, including friends and family, as well as local officials representing Taylor’s University, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Langkawi Tourism Academy and Overview Sdn Bhd were present.

The Datai Investing in People scheme is a professional course dedicated to train members of staff in the concept and practicalities of delivering high quality, consistent service levels as a way to help them with “opportunities to grow and excel.”

More experienced employees can elect to take part in the ‘Advanced Certificate of Excellence for Executives in Hospitality Management’ from Universiti Utara Malaysia in partnership with Overview Sdn Bhd. Whereas junior staff can opt for the ‘Certificate of Achievement, also in partnership with Taylor’s University.

Arnaud Girodon, general manager of The Datai Langkawi, said: “With our eagerly anticipated reopening drawing near, the graduation is well timed and we are extremely proud of the team for seizing the opportunity to dedicate their time and commit themselves to their studies during the programme. We are confident of our Datai family and their now elevated capabilities to continue to provide a seamless guest experience.”

Mohd Fadzli, who was awarded the ‘Top Achiever’ award along with his graduation diploma for the senior course’, said: “I feel very blessed to have been given this opportunity to develop my skills and become a more active member in the Datai family. It shows the dedication of The Datai Langkawi in empowering and caring for us. It has been an incredible journey and I know I can speak on behalf of my peers that we are refreshed with new ideas and look forward to applying our knowledge in our various roles.”

The Datai Langkawi is expected to re-open in September this year.
