Ibiza Tourist Board has revealed its latest tourism statistics and outlined its commitment to continuing to strengthen its position as an attractive holiday destination for British holidaymakers.
At a press conference during World Travel Market happening today, Vicente Marí Torres, president of Ibiza Island Council together with the Director of Ibiza Island Council, Juan Miguel Costa, presented the latest air traffic figures, which show a continued growth in the number of passengers arriving to Ibiza airport every month. From January to September 2019, more than 3.54 million visitors came to Ibiza by air, representing a slight year-on-year increase (0.61%) compared to the same period in 2018.
Looking at the United Kingdom statistics specifically, Ibiza welcomed over 871,000 travellers from British airports during the aforementioned time frame. Projected end-of-year tourism figures show than the United Kingdom will deliver again the highest number of overseas visitors to Ibiza.
Ibiza welcomes more visitors every year, the reason why the Ibiza Tourist Board strategy seeks to promote the island as a year-round destination, not only in summer months.
“Ibiza depends largely on British tourism”
Juan Miguel Costa, director of the Ibiza Island Council, said: “Ibiza depends largely on British tourism and despite Brexit uncertainties, they forward to warmly welcoming many more British visitors in the forthcoming months.
“Ibiza has been a traditional British holiday destination for decades, in fact, many of our tourists come year after year to the island on their own, or with their families and friends — they are very loyal to us and we are committed to them as well. Our tourists have become part of the family, Ibiza is part of you.”
