Park Hyatt Kyoto: Japan gets new luxury address

TD Editor

Park Hyatt has opened its second property in Japan in Kyoto, after Park Hyatt Tokyo which opened in 1994. The hotel is located in the Higashiyama hills, in the district less than 1.5 km from the Kyoto station where many iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites exists.

Park Hyatt Kyoto is two-storied and four-storey underground, houses 70 guestrooms with nine suites and most of the rooms can enjoy the perspectives of iconic Yasaka Pagoda. The hotel’s design and construction incorporate traditional Japanese design architecture and artisanal craftmanship.

What’s unique about this property is the hotel is built in the property of a long-established culinary institution Kyoyamato, founded in Osaka 1877 and moved to Kyoto post war 1949. There are historical sites such as a private house used as a secret gathering point of warlords of Revere the Emperor group or a historical tea ceremony room both from Edo period.

Those are preserved and carefully restored upon the opening of the hotel. The hotel has four onside dining, following the concept of ‘Thoughtfully sourced, carefully served’.
