airBaltic’s ancillary service demand grows by 35% in 2019

In 2019, the demand for ancillary services of Latvian airline airBaltic grew by 35%. It is the highest volume in the history of the company. The most popular services were checked baggage, advanced seat reservation and pre-order meals.

Eva Plakane, senior vice president of revenue management at airBaltic said: “Last year, we put an additional focus on further improving and marketing our ancillary products. In 2019, we launched a new pre-order menu, developed by chefs from all three Baltic states. Additionally, in December we introduced delayed baggage protection service. In April last year, we also launched the innovative heavy cabin baggage service.”

Among the most popular ancillary products, the most significant growth has been recorded for advanced seat reservations, which in 2019 generated a 62% revenue increase compared to the previous year.

In 2020, airBaltic continues its expansion in the Baltics and will launch 14 new routes, including four new direct destinations from Tallinn, Estonia, and five new destinations from Vilnius, Lithuania.
