Papua New Guinea’s national carrier, Air Niugini has entered into an interline agreement with Air France-KLM. As of this month, passengers travelling between the Papuan capital, Port Moresby and Europe will be able to book on a single ticket for travel on all three carriers.
Prior to the signing of this agreement, passengers could only book flights to Air Niugini destinations, before booking a second ticket with a second airline. The new deal also means that passengers’ baggage will be checked through to the connecting flight.
“The implementation of the Interline e-ticketing Agreement ensures that Air Niugini and Air France and KLM customers now have easy connections to and from Port Moresby via any of the following Asian destinations Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila and Tokyo to and from any European city in the network of Air France and KLM. Furthermore passengers’ baggages are tagged all the way to/from Europe without hassle. It saves them time from having to re-check baggage for the next flight, said Wasantha Kumarasiri, Chief Executive Officer of Air Niugini.
“We are very happy with this unique agreement with Air Niugini to offer our customers a seamless service between Papua New Guinea and our extensive network in Europe and vice versa”, added Paul Rombeek, Air France-KLM’s General Manager for Singapore, Indonesia, Australia & New Zealand.
Air France and KLM have now signed a total of 28 interline agreements with various partners.
