Abacus forms new Indian training partnership

Abacus has signed a major new agreement to train the next generation of travel professionals in India.
The travel technology company has penned a deal with the Trade-wings Institute of Management to train its students in the use of Abacus solutions. This agreement between will cover training and mentoring opportunities at Trade-wings’ 40 centres across India.
“Considering the growth of the travel and tourism industry which is powered by technology, we believe this training is an important investment in India’s next generation of travel professionals,” said Jeet Sawhney, managing director of Abacus India.
“With experience of the multi-platform technology tools used by national, regional and global travel brands at over 20,000 travel agent locations, we are helping them gain a competitive edge in the jobs market to choose from the most exciting employers.”
The Trade-wings Institute of Management which was established in 1989 and offers a range of course across its training centres in India, with courses covering a multiple sectors including tourism management, airlines, revenue management, hospitality and cargo operations, devised to equip students with practical skills before they embark in a career in the industry.
“We are training the students so that they are ready to manage travel with the region’s leading GDS and related technologies and will perform better in the workplace. They understand the critical role of technology in travel and are excited at the prospect of learning from direct experience,” said Rajan Dani, director of the Trade-wings Institute of Management.
Under the new agreement, around 1,000 students will be trained every year. The two companies will now work together to develop joint courses.
