Abacus International has launched a series of new tools for the Asia Pacific travel trade.
At the Abacus International Conference (AIC), which is taking place this week in Abu Dhabi, the travel technology company unveiled three new solutions: Abacus ContentPlus, which aggregates air, hotel, car, insurance and ground products, Abacus TravelPlus, a new web-based package creation tool, and Abacus MobileConnect, which allows travel agencies to launch their own branded mobile app.
With reference to Abacus ContentPlus, the company’s chief marketing officer, Martin Symes, said Abacus was “solving the problem of content fragmentation” by bringing together an array of travel content within a single point-of-sale, which can be booked under the same PNR.
This includes hotel content from Abacus RoomDeal and Indonesian bedbank MG Group, airfares and ancillaries from more than 180 budget airlines, 8,000 activities, attractions, event ticketing, tours and airport transfers, and pre-paid rentals from more than 1,200 car rental suppliers. Insurance company AIG completes the range of launch content providers, while future phases will include rail, cruise, ferry and coach products.
Abacus TravelPlus meanwhile, is a new web-based package creation, distribution and booking solution.
“Wholesalers want to be more tactical, to maximise their distribution,” said Symes. “The capabilities of Abacus TravelPlus, including its built-in eFlyer creation tool, will move more inventory faster, increasing productivity.”
Finally, Abacus MobileConnect is designed to make it possible for a travel agency to launch its own mobile app. These affordable mobile tools will offer a range of functions, including check-in prompts, trip alerts, and flight status and destination information.
“Given the increasing demand for both pre-trip and in-trip mobile solutions, Abacus MobileConnect will provide our agents with a vital new channel for selling and managing their clients’ travel,” said Symes.
Introducing the three new products, Abacus said it was undertaking “the most radical product roll-out in the company’s history.”
