EVA Air has appointed Abacus International to act as the translation platform for its Chinese language fares.

The travel technology company will translate the Airline Tariff Publishing Company’s (ATPCO) fare data in Taiwan, supplying fare rules to EVA and UNI Air in Mandarin.

“We are delighted to be introducing this new automated service for the benefit of our core resellers in Taiwan,” said Albert Liao, EVA’s senior vice president. “We chose Abacus to ensure we deliver the best possible user experience to agents shopping for fares. This latest innovation makes it much easier to compare the available options.”

Extracting ATPCO fare data from EVA and UNI Air, Abacus is integrating it with online travel agents directly. For offline agents, the translated rule returns for ATPCO fare search results are embedded in the Abacus user interfaces.

“Access to translated content from universal filing sources like ATPCO is essential to the expansion of Asian aviation markets. We are therefore proud to have supplied the first automated fares and rules digitally in Chinese formats across Taiwan, breaking new ground with this prestigious airline,” said Ho Hoong Mau, Abacus’ head of airline distribution.
