AccorHotels has expanded its budget portfolio in Thailand with the signing of a new ibis Styles hotel on the island of Koh Samui.
Scheduled to open in early 2017, ibis Styles Samui Chaweng Beach will form part of the same development as Hard Rock Cafe Samui, next to the Central Festival Samui shopping mall and just two minutes’ walk from Chaweng Beach.
The property will feature 129 rooms, with rates including breakfast and Wi-Fi, while facilities will include a restaurant, swimming pool and rooftop bar.
Patrick Basset, AccorHotels’ chief operating officer for Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia, said the new property would appeal to “young domestic and intra-Asian guests”.
There are currently two ibis Styles hotels operating in Thailand, with a further six in the pipeline including the Samui property. Other new ibis Styles are expected to open in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit and Khao San Road areas, the northern town of Chiang Khong and the beach resorts of Phuket and Pattaya.
ibis Styles Samui Chaweng Beach is owned by Destination Resorts, whose CEO Glenn Murray commented; “We are thrilled to introduce ibis Styles into our portfolio with AccorHotels. The modern brand will complement our existing set of Novotel resorts located throughout Thailand, and appeal to the growing number of millennial travellers.”
