AccorHotels has expanded its luxury portfolio in China with the launch of the highest hotel in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province.

The new 400-room Sofitel Kunming occupies the 27th to 52nd floors of a new tower in the centre of the city. And the hotel has made the most of its lofty position by creating a restaurant, Kwee Zeen, on its 49th floor, which offers 360-degree views of the city. One level above on the 50th floor is the Parisian Voyage Bar, and an open-air rooftop Sky Garden overlooks the mountains and lakes that surround the city.

“Our convenient location and panoramic views add the extra appeal to the harmonious blend of French-style hospitality and colourful local culture,” said Michel Molliet, AccorHotels’ chief operating officer for Greater China.

“We look forward to welcoming corporate and leisure guests at the Sofitel Kunming. The hotel is an ideal choice for travellers who enjoy world-class hospitality with an authentic French experience and a local touch.”

The hotel offers a total of 400 rooms and suites, while other facilities include a spa, fitness centre, heated indoor swimming pool and 2,100m² of conference and banqueting space, including ballroom and eight meeting rooms. There is also a second restaurant, Le Chinois, which specialises in Yunnanese, Sichuanese and Cantonese cuisine.
