AccorHotels has significantly expanded its presence in Phuket with the signing of a deal for three more properties.

The agreement, penned with Avista Resort & Spa Patong Company, will see two existing properties rebranded under the Novotel and MGallery by Sofitel brands on 1 April 2016, and the launch of a new-build MGallery by Sofitel property in 2018.

“AccorHotels is proud to partner with Avista to manage three hotels in Phuket. As more guests visit the ever-popular island, they increasingly seek choice and consistency,” said Patrick Basset, AccorHotels’ chief operating officer for Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia.

“Each MGallery by Sofitel luxury hotel features a unique identity and story through its architecture, interior design and services. Novotel is well-known for its spacious rooms and service standards that stand apart in the midscale segment. Both brands are well positioned to cater to Phuket’s diverse guests, particularly as the island further develops its infrastructure and attractions.”

The 143-room Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort & Spa will be located five minutes’ walk from Kata Beach and will feature a restaurant, two bars, two meeting rooms, a business centre, swimming pool, fitness centre and kids’ club.

This will launch on the same day as the 150-room Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong MGallery by Sofitel, which is located two minutes’ walk from Patong Beach and features two restaurants, two bars, one meeting room, a business centre, three swimming pools, a spa, fitness centre and kids’ club.

Then in 2018, the companies will launch the 160-room Avista Grande Phuket Karon MGallery by Sofitel. Located in the Karon Beach area, this luxury property will offer a restaurant, three bars, two meeting rooms, a swimming pool, business centre and kids’ club.

AccorHotels currently operates nine properties in Phuket under its ibis, all seasons, Novotel, Grand Mercure and Pullman brands, plus other properties in Khao Lak, Krabi, Koh Samui and Chumphon.

But the company has major expansion plans in southern Thailand; following the recent opening of the Novotel Samui Resort Chaweng Beach Kandaburi, the group now has a pipeline of 10 more properties in the region.
