ADIA passenger traffic up 4.8%

Recent statistics from Abu Dhabi Airports Company stated that Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH) witnessed a growth of 4.8% in passenger traffic in July 2013, compared to July 2012. This resulted in a close 1.4 million passengers travelling through the airport.
In July 2013, aircraft movements totalled 11,355 representing a 12.1% increase compared to aircraft movements in July 2012.
Eng Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operations officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company said: “Efforts to attract new airline partners and new routes have led to yet another month of steady growth in passenger traffic. This continued growth in passenger traffic is the catalyst for the Capacity Enhancement Programme.”
July saw the beginning of three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi from Kenya Airways, which contributed to increased passenger traffic. The top five destinations in July 2013 were Bangkok, London, Manila, Jeddah and Doha.
