Advantage Managed Services (AMS) has applied to become an ATOL Accredited Body, it has revealed.
Speaking at its annual conference on Friday, Paul Nunn, financial operations manager at Advantage, said the move is part of the consortia’s talks with the CAA, which could also see agency agreements hosted on its intranet.
With ATOL changes in effect from tomorrow (30 April, with May as a transitional period), Nunn urged agents to think about their businesses and make a commercial decision in relation to the protection and costs that would be incurred. He added it has “never been more important” for travel agents to tell customers what is happening and recommended agents send consumers Flight Plus conditions as well as ATOL certificates.
Meanwhile tour operators and travel agents have been in a rush to secure agency agreements ahead of today’s schedule. Several tour operators we spoke to at the conference echoed the criticism of the late implementation of ATOL reform and had been working to finalise document wording in the build-up.
