Aeromexico has started flying its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Shanghai.

Effective immediately, the Mexico City-Tijuana-Shanghai route will be operated using the 243-seat, two-class B787-8, which replaces the older 277-seat B777-200. The new aircraft offers the airline’s latest cabin products, including touchscreen in-flight entertainment systems.

Aeromexico operates the route three times a week, with Tuesday, Friday and Sunday departures from Mexico City and Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday flights from Shanghai.

Aeromexico also noted that the route would be altered from 13 March to 31 July this year, operating via San José del Cabo rather than Tijuana. This is due to runway maintenance at Tijuana International Airport, and the usual schedule will resume on 1 August.

Shanghai is one of only two Asian destinations in Aeromexico’s network, along with Tokyo.
