Aeromexico expects to take delivery of its first Dreamliners this year, and intends to fly the aircraft to New York, Paris and Tokyo.
The Mexican carrier is on track to receive its first Boeing 787 in early August 2013, although commercial operations will not commence until 1 October, when the aircraft is deployed on one-off domestic flights from Mexico City to Monterrey and Tijuana.
Then from 2-13 October, Aeromexico will fly the Dreamliner from Mexico City to New York JFK, before commencing a regular thrice-weekly Mexico City-Tokyo Narita service from 14 October onwards.
The carrier will take delivery of its second and third Dreamliners in September, which it said it would use to operate daily flights to Paris and “certain weekly flights” to New York.
Aeromexico has ordered a total of 19 B787-8 and B787-9 Dreamliners, which are scheduled to be delivered gradually over the next few years. It will operate the B787-8 aircraft in a two-class layout with 243 seats – 32 in first class and 211 in economy.
The aircraft will eventually replace the airline’s fleet of B767s.
